My name is Brandon Stanton and I’m a photographer in New York City. As many of you already know, several months ago I was approached by the fashion label DKNY, who offered me $15,000 to purchase 300 of my photographs. I politely refused the offer. But earlier this week, one of my fans discovered that DKNY was using my photographs anyway— in Asia. (Full Story:http://thebea.st/13ijYt6)
As atonement for this infringement, I publicly requested that DKNY donate $100,000 in my name to the YMCA in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, so that underprivileged children could attend summer camp. DKNY responded on Monday with a $25,000 donation.
Over the next three days, my audience stepped in and raised the full $100,000 themselves. Over 3,000 people chipped in, and raised an astonishing $103,710 in 72 hours. (http://bit.ly/YTy4h3)
I have no interest in vilifying DKNY. It is a company composed of thousands of good people. The founder, Donna Karan, is highly respected around the world for both her creativity and philanthropy.
But I would appreciate if you would REBLOG this post, and lend your voice to my request that DKNY raise their donation to match the $103,710 that we raised.
Together, we could create a $208,000 investment in the lives of children in one of New York’s most vital and diverse neighborhoods. Thank you so much.

This is Emmitt. He is six years old and was obtained from the Oregon Humane Society as a puppy in December of 2006. He is smart, sweet, and energetic. He gets along with most other dogs and he grew up with cats in the house. Emmitt is friendly with children and he can be taken to places like the farmers’ market or a backyard bbq and behave like a gentleman. He loves to run and play fetch and tug of war. Emmitt is current on all of his vaccinations, is neutered and microchipped.
Emmitt’s only struggle is that he has a fairly severe case of separation anxiety (for which he takes medication - Prozac). He loves people sooooo much that he wants to be with them at all times. His anxiety is triggered by being left home alone so we take him with us virtually everywhere. For some reason his anxiety is not triggered by being left alone in a car, so in cases were we can’t bring him into wherever we are visiting we leave him in the car and he does well for a few hours.
We have been working with a behaviorist (http://www.synergybehavior.com/) in order to get guidance in lessening Emmitt’s anxiety. We have been working to gradually get him used to being alone for brief periods during the day, which have slowly been increasing in length and are now up to 3 hours. We currently have a roommate with a dog and having a companion seems to be helping him. We are also putting him in doggie daycare 2-3 times a week in order to get comfortable with us being away.
Due to major changes in our lives and work situations that no longer allow us to bring Emmitt with us to the office on a regular basis we have decided to start a search for a new home for him. This was a very hard decision to make but in the end we know that we aren’t the best owners given his current condition. We believe that there is a better fit out there. Someone who works from home and has a friendly dog would be ideal, but we are open to anyone who would like to try and provide Emmitt a great home on either a trial or a permanent basis.
If you think you and Emmitt would be a good fit, let’s talk! Email: emmittiscute at gmail dot com
